Easter Joke

It's Easter weekend in BC and it's snowing. Big, thick, fluffy flakes. Falling thick and fast and doesn't show any indication of letting up. At least it's warm down here, so it's not sticking. Yet. We just went through a high speed wind storm yesterday that knocked out power for most of the day from Duncan-south. We hopped in the car and headed into town. Then got turned around due to a tree across the road. So we went the long way. Got turned around on another road, and had to go a different way. Took us an extra 35 minutes to get to where we needed, but we managed to have lunch in town and I found a pretty shirt and some camisoles for a spring skirt I have. Now I just need the nice weather so I can wear it!

Here's some photos to catch up on the week past:

1. Greta loves the chocolate pie I made last week.

2. I nicked the back of my heel and made it bleed. This was the remedy.

3. My tea. Two big mugs = 1 pot. LOVE my tea.

4. Dinner this week was a delicious crispy chicken.

5. The painting we commissioned for the PFC. The building in the middle. Even though the ship would technically be on the rocks at this angle, this is how it looks when we come home and see the Messes and the entrance to Dockyard. We're selling the prints for $25 and there's been a LOT of interest already.

6. Pretty flowers from Ray's School

Snow has stopped. Finally.

This week's flex:
Sat: dance class, groceries, laundry, dinner at N's place. Supposed to get our new bed & mattress between 12:30-2:30. Suuuuure we will....

Mon: finish off laundry and housework. Prep for work/school week.

Thanks for nothing, Murphy

We all know Murphy's Law: if anything can go wrong, it will, and at the worst possible moment. Well, it wasn't the WORST possible moment, but timing could have been better for sure.

I sat down on our bed this morning. The bed we've had for going on 7 years, and I broke the side rail. Yeah yeah, har har, I know the jokes. Unfortunately, it was on a Sunday, when stores don't open til 11. And this Sunday, church started at 10. And there was a birthday party for one of Greta's friends starting at 1. The stores were in town (as was the party), but church wasn't. And because I wasn't thinking straight, I forgot to ask Sailor to pick up the present when he went home after dropping us off at church. GAH!

So, now we have a new bed, similar in colour but not really similar in style, along with a new mattress and boxspring set to be delivered next Saturday. Of course, they nabbed me with the 5 year extended warranty on the bedframe. We were given a brand new 32" (which is only actually 31" and less than that for viewing space) LCD flatscreen TV. But that won't be here til mid-April. They nailed me with a 2 year warranty on that, but if we don't use it, then we get the money back as a store credit (here's hoping I can get a few nice things for the walls in 2 years - there's a few horse pictures there that are spectacular!).

Ray ended up with Pinkeye on Friday. That was fun. The antibiotics are working a treat though, so at least she can go back to school. We need to find her a boulder for their garden.

Anyway, here's some pictures from the past week:

This is Greta enjoying her friend's castle at the birthday party from last week.

Next is Jimmy Flynn playing the Club. His buddy is a neighbour's son from Nova Scotia and he received a birthday present and we all sung Happy Birthday to him. It was a LOT of fun that night, that's for sure!

Palm Sunday at the church. I will crop this and make it prettier, but for now, I think this is fine. It's quite a nice contrast.

Playing in the park (yes, this is from Saturday, but whatever). The girls love this playground.

This week's flex:
Mon: I work, Sailor's off. Girls to school. I'm going in super early so that I can get to Clothing Stores and get stuff quickly instead of waiting forever. Making Haroset for Thursday night.

Tues: I work, Sailor's still off. Girls to school. I have tap class to go to. Gotta remember to bring a skirt. Making Macarones for Thursday night.

Wed: I work, Sailor works! Girls to school. No Nooma, but I need to make the Lamb and the Lemon Cake for Thursday night. Oh, and the maztoh balls mix.

Thurs: We work, but I'm off around 1230. Sailor will probably work late. Girls to school, but off at 3. I will be spending my afternoon at the church with the food and helping ot set up for Passover Seder Supper that night. I'll go get the girls, then we'll be back in time to eat most likely. I'm making chicken and matzoh balls there, the lamb will be ready to go, and for dessert the macarones and lemon cake. The food is always so good!

Fri: Off! Rest!! Perhaps some scrapbooking? Laundry? Hanging out.

Sat: Dance for Ray, getting our new bed set and mattress delivered, and then dinner at N's place. Perhaps I'll bring a baked brie and get them hooked too! Mwahahaaahah.

This is getting tedious

So the Wiggles are playing, Greta's playing her harmonica and Ray is doing 'homework' on her Thomas computer. Nearly bath time.

This is Kee Kee the cat on his way to the vet. He yowled on the way there, there, and on the way back. Other than his teeth, he's in great health.

This week's flex:
Wed: girls to school, me to work. Swim for PT. If I can find a sitter, I'll be at the last night of the Nooma course.

Thurs: OFF! Last day of Annual Leave. Dropping the girls off then returning bottles and cans, then having lunch with aunts and uncle and step-mum before heading back to pick up girls.

Fri: Sailor's home!! Girls to school, me to work, and Jimmy Flynn plays the club that night.

Sat: Ray to dance. Groceries.

Sun: Church. Birthday party for one of Greta's friends.

Mon: Girls to school. Me & sailor to work. I have a brief to give. Then get the girls after swimming at 2.

Tues: Girls to school. Me & sailor to work. I have to sit in a meeting, so no PT. Dance class for me and my sprained toe.

I love my Mac, except

for when it doesn't upload more than one photo at a time.

Ok, this one is the view from the Club toward Port Angeles one morning.

Last one coming up.

One more try

Let's see if it'll let me post more than ONE photo this time.

No. It won't. Piss. Me. Off.

Ok, this one is of our cherry tree out front in bloom.

Two more to go.

Gah! Life... SLOW down wouldja?

Things just never seem to stop around here. I know I'm derelict, but here's some photos to catch up. For some reason, the Mac will only let me put four or fewer photos in one post. I know... post more and the problem would end.

First photo: a cherry tree in bloom from along the highway.

Seems the damned computer won't let me post any more. Off to do ANOTHER posting.

Wish me luck. I'm just in no mood to argue with the damned machine today.

What a weekend!

I have been lax in posting photos, but I have been taking them!

This first one is the thing the girls like to do the best - swing.

The next one here is what greeted us on the front lawn one day when we came back from work & daycare. Three deer, hanging out. Eating the tops of my flowers!

Friday night in Penticton, we went to dinner at Villa de Rosa (and Saturday night too). The candles were beautiful.

Saturday at Career Conference, I won this purse! I'm not much of a purse or bag type, but hey! Who am I to say no? A lot of women were looking at that purse... a few came by afterward to touch it. Huh. Yes, technically I didn't take this photo, but DAMN, I look good!

This is the view from our hotel room. It was so pretty.

And here's what the purse can do: three looks!

Sailor's at sea for this week and next. Ray still has spring break this week, so my niece Al is here watching her while Greta goes to preschool and I go to work. This week's flex:

Mon: home sick (yay me).
Tue: Ame comes over to visit with Ray, I go to work, Greta to preschool.
Wed: Greta to preschool, me to work. Church at night for Nooma course.
Thu: Greta to preschool, meeting at work.
Fri: Garbage day! Greta to preschool. Me to work. Sailor mentioned he may be home this weekend!
Sat: Cat to vet. Ray to dance.
Sun: Us to church (I get to read the prayers. No pressure there). Birthday party for a friend of Greta's. Twilight movie night with a friend!!
